👋 Welcome to Hear to Help: Support for Families with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children
We are so glad you're here.
At Hear to Help, we understand that raising a deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) child comes with many questions, decisions, and unique joys. That’s why we’re here—to walk alongside you with personalized support, clear information, and meaningful connections. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or are looking for ongoing support, Hear to Help is a place where families find guidance, empowerment, and community.
🌟 Our Story
Hear to Help was founded by dedicated Teacher of the Deaf, Kristen Urban, with years of experience working across a wide range of educational settings—including mainstream classrooms, private programs, residential deaf institutions, and early intervention services. Over the years, one thing became clear: families are the most powerful advocates for their children, and they deserve the tools, support, and knowledge to confidently guide their child's developmental journey.
With a deep passion for working with DHH children and families, and a strong belief in parent education and empowerment, Urban launched *Hear to Help* to provide just that—family-centered, expert-driven support.
💬 Our Approach
We are proud to offer services that reflect a broad and inclusive understanding of deafness. Our founder is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and has experience supporting families using both **a bilingual approach (ASL and English)** and **listening and spoken language**. We honor and support each family's communication choices and work to ensure you have the information and support you need to make the best decisions for your child.
Our services are tailored to meet families where they are, whether that means:
* Navigating an early diagnosis
* Understanding communication options
* Preparing for preschool or school transitions
* Advocating in educational settings
* Connecting with providers and specialists
🤝 What We Offer
At Hear to Help, we offer:
* One-on-one **family consultations**
* Educational support and advocacy guidance
* Resource navigation
* ASL and communication strategy coaching
* Connections to local and national family support organizations
* Parent workshops and community events
We also collaborate closely with other **family organizations**, schools, and professionals to create a network of support around you and your child.
🧡 You’re Not Alone
One of our greatest goals is to help families feel connected—not just to services, but to each other. Through our network and partnerships, we help you connect with other families who have walked a similar path, so you can share experiences, celebrate progress, and build a strong support system.
We believe that when families are informed, connected, and empowered, children thrive.
